Furikake is basically a dry rice seasoning in Japan and it’s not available everywhere but if you can get a few basic ingredients you can make your own in about 5 minutes. This is really sped up with a food processor.
Bento: Ricey
Some weeks you just get to a weird theme (or really, a rut) which is why this week there is just so much rice going on. Especially in the winter it’s hard to resist the siren song of carbs but hopefully next week will be more interesting carbs at least!

Menu: Snow Daze
A much simpler week after the four course extravaganza that was Thanksgiving. Just some nice, down to earth food that I’ve made before so I don’t have to get too stressed out about it.

Recipe: Salt Cured Pickles
You can’t come up with an easier recipe. These pickles take as long as it takes to cut up a cucumber to make and then time does the rest of the work. Despite being only a few ingredients, the pickle packs a punch. While I think I like vinegar cured pickles more, these do in a pinch.
Salt Cured Pickles
Adapted from Otaku BlogBento: Salad Time
Andrew requested that I try to add a salad to every bento so you’re going to get sick of seeing all these side salads but I’ll try to keep things a little interesting at least so I don’t get bored either.

Bento: Pre-Gobble
I don’t know how but Thanksgiving really snuck up on me this year so this is the last week before I totally buy every food on Earth and cook a ridiculous meal for just the two of us (they don’t do Thanksgiving here). Enjoy the week’s lunches in picture form in the meantime.

Recipe: Stromboli
This is a great recipe that uses pizza dough, cheese, and cold cuts to make something delicious and easy. You can serve it without or without a marinara dipping sauce depending on how you feel. I love the way it looks and how quickly it comes together.

Adapted from Beyond KimcheeBento: A Big Downer
Last week has a huge downer and I feel like you can actually see that in my food. Even though I managed to make a whopping all five lunches I feel like they’re less cute and less interesting than they had any right to be. Also, so many apple. So many.
