Menu: Skipped

I seem to have forgotten to post a menu last week but it’s not the end of the world so here’s this weeks menu a little ahead of time instead.

Saturday
lunch – meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes
dinner – party! fruit mix + yogurt, veggie platter + dip, popcorn

Sunday
lunch – broccoli + cheese soup, leftover veggies/fruit
dinner – leftover meat loaf

Monday
lunch – piroshki, mini quiche, fruit
dinner – baked fish with vegetables and rice

Tuesday
lunch – sandwiches, fruit, and veggies
dinner – chicken divan

Wednesday
lunch – piroshki, mini quiche
dinner – vegetable soup

Thursday
lunch – sandwiches, fruit, boiled egg
dinner – pollo con arroz

Friday
lunch – leftover pollo con arroz
dinner – waffles, yogurt, fruit

Recipe: Cheesy Broccoli Soup

A super simple way to make broccoli disappear in a matter of minutes. Creamy, rich, not all that good for you but delicious. I actually would use much less cheese and then taste and add as much as you need because I dumped it all in the first time and it was actually too cheesy I ended up putting in some stock to thin out the flavor.

Bento: Wild Bentos

I haven’t made very many pretty bentos but I have been much better about packing lunches and cooking food ahead of time. Part of the problem is that you have to wash the bento every single day which doesn’t always happen due to laziness. Anyway, here are two nice ones from last week.


Very simple gyro salad with a yogurt-cucumber sauce on the side.


This one is a bit fancy looking isn’t it? Lemon-Pepper Cod, rice, tomatoes and baked spinach.

Hopefully I keep making them this week!

Menu: Wacky Weather

The weather has not been kind to us in Seattle this month and it’s been a roller coaster of hot and cold over the past 3 weeks including 2 days of snow. Usually it’s about 55 in March but this year I think the average is more like 35 (burrr!).

lunch: turkey sandwiches + fruit
dinner: roasted chicken and potatoes, rolls, chocolate tart

Monday –
lunch: minestrone, rolls, fruit
dinner: mushroom ravioli

Tuesday –
lunch: sandwiches
dinner: lazy chicken masala

Wednesday –
lunch: leftover masala
dinner: pasta w/ veg

Thursday –
lunch: chicken chili
dinner: shakshuka

Friday –
lunch: chili
dinner: burritos

Hopefully I will manage all this cooking but first I have to do all the house cleaning and shopping today πŸ™‚

Menu: Classy Lady

I’ve dedicated myself to doing the menus online again (I do them every week by hand anyway or I wouldn’t know what to buy obviously). I’m about to make a quick run for pudding and wine which is a long story but I thought I’d post my menu for the week before I do.

We finally ran out of meat (there had been a great sale on turkey and chicken last month we’d been able to buy about 8lbs for only $15 all together) so I expect this week to be more expensive than usual but still not over budget of course.

Menu: February

It’s so hard to keep up with menu when you don’t have the CSA pushing you along in my experience. Having a couple “dud” recipes also pretty disheartening and I’ve started a photo blogging project and have been avoiding taking picture of all my lovely food experiments. I’ve actually had 3 disappointments and only 2 recipes to share (neither with pictures). I’ve also been awful to completely awful with bentos but that is another story entirely. Also we’ll be in LA from Friday to next Monday so no meal plans then :3

Hopefully I’ll keep on top of it next week.
