It’s been really hectic these past few week. I’ve been in to making crafts lately because of my friend Mochi so I feel like I just have a little less time to cook because of that. This week I’ll be shipping out my Xmas gifts which will take a big weight off my back 🙂 Anyway basic menu for the week below like usual.
Menu: No Turkey Blues
Thanksgiving has gone and passed and thankfully I’m done with both my Nano and 90% of my Xmas/holiday gifts. Over the next week I’ll be wrapping up the cooking portion of presents and putting some finishing touches on the rest (like writing out the notes). Below is this weeks menu which is fairly conservative because I want to take it easy on myself.
Sunday

Monday
lunch – fish leftovers w/ rice
dinner – turkey helper
Tuesday
lunch – vegetable noodle soup

Recipe: Chicken Vindaloo
This is probably not super authentic but this is the vindaloo recipe my mother and I both use. It’s quick, delicious and can be as spicy as you want.

Menu: Thanksgiving Time
Our shopping trip will probably be over budget ($80) this week! If not because of the sheer amount of food I need to make and feed to 6 people for Thanksgiving then because of the duck breast I’ll be serving which is not cheap. Thankfully there should be leftovers because company will be bringing and leaving food with us.

dinner – out with groupon (got bumped from Friday)
Monday
lunch – galette
dinner – ravioli
Tuesday
lunch – sandwiches and apple

Thursday (Thanksgiving)

sides – green beans w/ lemon, mashed potatoes, sweet potato pie
dessert – peppermint cookies
Friday
lunch – leftovers
dinner – also leftovers
Saturday
lunch – soup

Recipe: Chicken Noodle Soup
A fairly classic recipe presented very simply. Perfect on a cold day and comes together actually quite quickly for a soup. I like to flavor it with some of Penzey’s mural of flavor in addition to a bay leaf.

Bento: Tiffin World
Oh blogging in November is tough but without the CSA anymore its even worse!
Andrew and I are still adjusting to our new work routine but it does mean more lunch packing. Here are a the tiffins from this week (today was a boring sandwich day).

Menu: CSA Over
Sunday
dinner – carrot stew
Monday

dinner – chicken curry
Tuesday
lunch – curry, apple
Andrew – curry, apple, yogurt

Since the CSA is over and Andrew has a new job menus will likely be on Sundays and new recipes on Wednesday. We’ll see how I can stick to that though :/
Menu: Birthday Wishes

This is week 15 for our CSA, only 3 more until we have to bid it farewell until next summer. We’ll be buying a smaller box since the full size one was just too much food for 2 people! Which is fine because the smaller box is $7 less a week which will save us $100 over the season!
I’ve been working hard at Christmas crafts so still a bit light on cooking but I should be finished with my projects in 2-3 weeks. Below is the CSA contents and menu.
6 ears sweet corn
1.5 pounds potatoes
1 red kuri squash
2 watermelon radishes
2 bunches arugula
2 green peppers
2 jalapeno peppers
3 peaches
6 mini plums
3 apples

Menu: Running Routine

Welcome to yet another week we’re I’m running kinda slow on updating! I’m trying to work on being more reliable about posting while I’m also trying to alter my diet, up my exercise, and finish 13 Xmas presents in 4 weeks. You can see how that’s turning out (not to mention the usual social, work, and life issues along the way!) Below is the CSA contents and a “working menu”. I’m going to try and turn the corn in to not creamed corn but…I’m merely human and creamed corn is delicious. Continue reading
