Recipe: Fried Cauliflower

This is one of those recipes that will completely blow you away. I actually don’t like the sauce that came with the original recipe and prefer to just use a bottled teriyaki or even just a sprinkling of soy sauce so I’m not including it here but basically this a recipe for the most delicious fried cauliflower that you can serve over rice with some sesame seeds – if you don’t end up eating it all before that.

Ingredients
 120 g flour
 125 ml water
 75 g cornstarch
 2 tsp baking powder
seasoning: cumin, tumeric, chili powder, ginger, pepper, and salt
 2 eggs
1 head cauliflower, cut into small florets
 oil, for frying

Directions
1

Make the batter by combining all the ingredients except for the cauliflower and oil. If the batter is too thick, add a small amount of water OR if too thin, add a small amount of flour until batter is a consistency that coats a spoon but drips off it easily as well.

2

Fill a dutch oven or skillet with oil, about 2", enough to cover the cauliflower most of the way then heat the oil until a drop of batter in bubbles to the top.

3

Once the oil is hot, dip the cauliflower in the batter, then place the dipped pieces in the oil and fry for 3-4 minute on each side until golden brown all over.

4

Once fried, set on a cooling rack lined with paper towel until dried slightly then top with sesame seeds, sauce, or other toppings and serve over rice.
