This is a very mild but filling soup which comes out quite creamy. It’s the perfect compliment to a winter afternoon and keeps well in the freezer.

Recipe: Tri-Color Venetian Cookies
I make these every year for Christmas/New Years. They come out amazing and they’re eye-catching and delicious. They are not simple to make and will take you at least 3 hours usually between the cooking and cooling and pressing and mixing and so on. They also cost are some of the most expensive cookies to make by batch due to the almond paste, jam, large amount of butter, almond extract, and that chocolate for the top. The recipe makes 40-50 cookies but I always double it to make it easier to work with the batter.

Recipe: Chicken Vindaloo
This is probably not super authentic but this is the vindaloo recipe my mother and I both use. It’s quick, delicious and can be as spicy as you want.

Recipe: Chicken Noodle Soup
A fairly classic recipe presented very simply. Perfect on a cold day and comes together actually quite quickly for a soup. I like to flavor it with some of Penzey’s mural of flavor in addition to a bay leaf.

Recipe: Zucchini Galette
This is a two part recipe (or three if you want to be super technical) but it comes together without much effort, probably about 15 minutes actual prep (though there’s 30 minutes sitting time so plan accordingly).

Recipe: Black Bean Enchiladas
I had never had enchiladas before so this was an experience in deliciousness. The sauce came together almost instantly and without effort and the bean burrito things were beyond delicious. This makes a surprising 8 enchiladas which we ate over 4 nights. This was also extremely spicy but I blame that on the way too hot salsa I used.

Recipe: Chicken Pot Pie
Who doesn’t love a chicken pot pie? This recipe is a little time intensive but you can save time by making the crust and filling ahead of time or just using ready made pie crust. You can freeze this pie pretty well before baking and cook from frozen (adding some time to the final bake) but it’s also delicious piping hot out of the oven and makes great leftovers for several days.

Recipe: Piroshki
I first had piroshki at Pike Place Market at the aptly named Piroshki Piroshki and they were delicious so I’ve tried my hand at making them. Make sure all your inside bits are nicely chopped before you start it’ll speed up the cooking and cook more evenly as well.

Recipe: Basic Cinnamon Rolls
I love cinnamon rolls plain but you can frost these babies too. I used a basic butter butter cream but you can frost with cream cheese if you’re feeling that instead. This is a great recipe which actually takes about 15 active minutes of doing anything, it’s a lot of waiting but of course when you come out with soft, gooey cinnamon rolls it’s worth the wait!

Recipe: Chicken and Rice Soup
This recipe requires very little effort aside from some chopping which can pretty much be done at the same time. Very delicious too, we ate half for dinner and then half for lunch the next day.
