These are a total hit, I would absolutely suggest that if you would like to eat bread and potatoes at the same time that you do it in knish form. The dough for these is VERY forgiving and the filling is hearty and homey at the same time so these would be great next to a bowl of soup or a salad to make a full meal.
Bento: #20
Just some good ol’ fashioned salads populating lunch this week. I don’t know what it is about salad except that it’s super easy and Andrew likes it so I try not to fight against the tide too much but also I kind of hate the quiet complacency of salad?
Mac and cheese, salad, nectarine
Goulash, spatzel, salad, apple
General Tso’s Cauliflower, rice, salad, nectarine
Black bread with lox and cream cheese, roasted vegetables, grapes
Pepper popovers with mushroom ragu, salad, carrots and dip, grapes
Bento: #19
I made all five lunches for this week and I feel good about it because I didn’t waste any food and I managed to only make food that tastes great so that always makes me happy.
Japanese style chicken curry, rice, salad, plums
Zucchini pancakes, boiled egg, jam, grapes, nectarine
Jerk seasoned shrimp and vegetable bowl, sour cream, chips, and salsa
Potato au gratin, salad, carrots and hummus, grapes
Pb and j, coleslaw, grapes, nectarine
Menu: Ambitious
This is a very ambitious menu that banks on me wanting to cook and make many different things but somehow all my side dishes are still boring (!) but we’ll see how it shakes out. Now that’s colder outside, cooking does look much more attractive as a pastime.

fish cakes, salad, carrots and hummus, apple
Menu: A Little Festival
I did great with planning and execution this week so flying on that high I made a really simple menu in hopes that I can continue that trend (I always feel better if I manage to cook and eat all the things on my list). And yes, I am making scallion pancakes again! They were so good that both of us agreed we should eat more of them right away.
