Menu: Always Behind

I can never tell if I’m overextending myself or actually just very lazy and easily distracted. What a terrible confusion. Anyway here is this week’s menu and I promise there are three more recipes coming down the pipeline very soon I’ve just kind of forgotten to edit them because it takes quite a bit of time and I’ve been writing so much lately that it ended up feeling more like a chore than a record / fun.

Weekly Lunch: #17

I think next year I’m going to start posting these starting with the number one again so I can see how many weeks I actually hold to the posting part. I haven’t been 100% with my making or tracking or photographing of lunches either but I feel like I’m into the 95% territory which is all you can ask of humans really.

Menu: Behind November

The last two months of the year somehow get more full than the rest of the year (also it’s almost next year, when did that happen?) but this week will be especially weird because it’s Tallinn Restaurant Week so we’re going out to dinner TWICE for that and over to a friend’s for dinner as well. I basically don’t have to cook at all – that’s a bit hyperbolic but certainly a lot less than usual.

Recipe: Honey and Apple Challah

A twist on classic challah for Rosh Hashanah or if you just want to impress your friends with what amounts to a very fluffy apple cake, this honey and apple challah is really good with a big cup of hot tea or coffee on a cold day. The honey gives it a nice sweetness without being overwhelming. I only used a single apple but I kind of wanted more apples in it, I might try using apple butter instead of regular butter for extra apple goodness next time.

Weekly Lunches: #15

By the time you read this I’ll be in sunny, warm Montenegro on vacation! It’ll be at least two weeks of no bentos but recipes will still publish for those weeks so you probably won’t even notice the passage of time.
