I love the idea of making traditionally sweet foods savory. So when I saw this recipe I knew I would be making it. Despite sounding very fancy, goat cheese and pears are not exactly high ticket items so this is a pretty cheap recipe if you need to impress something and on top of it all, this is also a one bowl recipe!
Goat Cheese, Pear, and Black Pepper Scones
Heat the oven to 190°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and pepper then add the butter by breaking into small pieces with your fingertips until the dough is rounf looking.
Add the pear and goat cheese and stir gently to break up the cheese but not entirely blend it.
Add the milk and give it a final mix, the dough should be fairly dry.
Place the dough on the sheet in a circle and divide in to 6-8 piece separating the scone pieces enough to not bake together. Then bake for 35-40 minutes until light brown.
