I think it only took me an extra two years to make sweet scones but these are the best, they taste super fresh and almost like a cream dessert. They’re even more simple than savory scones but be aware this recipe makes enough for sharing.
Vanilla and Cardamom Scone

Ingredients
425 g flour
30 g sugar
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp salt
85 g butter
230 ml light cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
1
Preheat the oven to 220°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2
In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, vanilla extract, cardamom, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3
Add the butter in small pieces and, using your fingers or a pastry blender, work the butter into the dry ingredients until it is coarse.
4
Add the cream and kneed the dough in the bowl until it comes together.
5
Gently roll the dough in to 1" thick rectangle and cut in to shapes.
6
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
