I’m a big fan of eating toast and eggs in the morning but I don’t always feel like making it so I made these breakfast puff that made this breakfast grab and go. Making them only takes a few minutes on the weekend and they crisp right back up in a toaster oven though they’re pretty good cold also.

Recipe: Potato Dumplings
Are these going to win an award for attractiveness? No. But they are really delicious and really simple to make. These are of the multitudes of recipes that calls for “leftover mashed potatoes” which I don’t actually believe in but if you want to eat potatoes but don’t exactly want mashed potatoes this is a great inbetween recipe. This could be the main dish or a side dish and you can make the mashed potatoes ahead of time so that it only takes 15 minutes for an easy last minute dinner.

I’m always in support of making breads and this one is quick, easy, and delicious. The thing that separates this Iranian bread from other bread is a thick glaze that goes on before baking – a mixture of flour and oil that gives the top a nice crunch. It’s technically called a flat bread but it’s not quite flat, half-flat bread.

I love this recipe. It’s quick, it’s delicious, you can serve it on top of any carb you have on hand : rice, noodles, couscous, spätzle, even a baked potato. You do you. It also is made of very simple ingredients that I tend to have on hand and you only have to chop an onion and some mushrooms. If you add in some frozen peas or spinach you can get some green vegetables in there too and it’s just a nice balance of quick, easy, cheap, and delicious you don’t find in most recipes.

I’ve become very enamored with Babka lately. There is something about the brioche-like texture and the sweet inside that really makes me happy but I actually do not like to stuff bread with chocolate and the cinnamon version always feels a little too dry so I decided to try a jam version and that is amazing. I can’t seem to make this without also getting jam all over the place but I’m sure that’s just a me-problem.

This is a great recipe from Bon Appétit. While it’s a little more involved than a weeknight meal or even a regular weekend meal for me personally this has a really fantastic result and is worth the effort for a dinner party or any other special occasion. You can scale this recipe up to make more than one tray but this made at least 8-10 good portions and at a party could be stretched to 16-18 people if served alongside other things.

Recipe: Pull Apart Garlic Bread
I guess the common name for making pull apart bread like this is “monkey bread” but out of all the names I really like “bubble bread” personally. This is a pretty standard recipe for garlic rolls / garlic knots but made into small pieces that make it really fun for a party and to share. This looks like it would take a lot of work really it’s probably only five extra minutes of work to dunk the balls in garlic-butter. If you don’t have a bundt pan then simply place a ramekin in the center of a round tin like I have.

You can make this soup extra creamy either by adding more potato chunks and/or by blending as much or as little of the soup as you like. The soup itself has a really simple taste and it pretty satisfying stick to ribs making it a perfect soup for any chilly day. As a bonus it’s made of ingredients that are cheap most of the year and are generally in my pantry so it’s perfect for a last minute meal.

This isn’t a showstopper visually but these tiny little cupcakes pack a delicious butter and cinnamon flavor that pairs perfectly with coffee or tea. These cupcakes are best with an extra generous layer of topping so feel free to make extra for an extra decadent experience. While the recipe seems more complicated than your average cupcake the bonus is that all the work is done before you put them in the oven so once they come out and cool they’re immediately ready to eat – no frosting or decoration necessary.

I think people are really intimidated by making pie but this is my first time making my own pie crust and I found it actually fairly straight forward. This is actually much easier than it seems on the surface but it does require that you properly rest the dough so it needs to be planned out ahead of time.
