Filipino-Style Spaghetti

Ingredients
 450 g spaghetti
 1 tbsp oil
 4 chicken hotdogs, sliced diagonally
 1 onion, sliced thinly
 3 cloves garlic, minced
 1 pepper, chopped
 300 g ground chicken
 400 g canned tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
 100 g tomato paste
 225 g banana ketchup, preferably sweet and spicy
 150 ml chicken broth
 herbs and spices to taste (basil, cumin, salt, pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes)
 cheddar, shredded, for topping

In a large dutch oven heat oil. Once heated add the onions, garlic, and bell peppers to pan. Cook until softened, about 6-8 minutes.

Add ground chicken, break into small pieces and then cook until it it is no longer pink.

Add the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, seasonings, banana ketchup, and broth.

Simmer on low heat for 30-40 minutes one hour or until meat is fully cooked and sauce is thickened adding water if needed.

While the sauce cooks, prepare the spaghetti according to the package, drain and set aside.

Brown the sliced sausage pieces in a small pan with just enough oil to prevent sticking, cook for 5-6 minutes flipping frequently until they are browned.

Add the pasta and hotdogs to the finished sauce, toss completely and serve with shredded cheese and green onions.
